About us

Welcome to your resource for nature based exploration and discovery in kindergarten and early primary school.

http://www.hint.no/

This blog began in fall 2013 as a project for the International Semester at Høgskolen i Nord Trondelag (HiNT) in Levanger, Norway. This semester's aim was to share Nordic and International teaching perspectives and attracted students from various countries around the world.

The program was also called "No Reason to Stay Inside" and included many outdoor learning experiences and a practice teaching period.  Our teaching placements included a farm school, refugee centre and kindergartens in Levanger and northern Ireland.

We are passionate about integrating outdoor education in kindergarten but also about encouraging positive social behaviour for all ages by using experiences with nature. We believe that contact with nature has many proven benefits for child development, from motor skills to intellectual and social development. Being outside promotes physical activity and stimulates the imagination.

The goal of this blog is to not only share some of our experiences but to turn them into a useful nature-inspired learning resource for ourselves and others interested in outdoor education.

So browse these ideas to get your kids outside to run, climb, get muddy and learn with nature!
